it was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now – anthony burgess, a clockwork orange after their lps “ike yard” (also known as “a fact a second” factory america, 1982) and nord (phisteria and desire, 2010) ike yard delivers their last album “rejoy” on noiztank, 2018 as the culmination of their recent years reinvented sound. as the perpetual flag bearers of the cutting-edge post-punk spirit, the nyc- based band shows muscle in a lp fully loaded with abrasive synth pads, scrap metal percussions, and whispered vocals. following the previous criteria of “sacred machine” 2017, it is worth to remark the inclusion of external vocals in the pieces “sister m” and “beyondersay”, which feature yuki osaki and maya. the nine tracks move through different atmospheres, tensions and moods that would perfectly represent a new contemporary soundtrack of the s. kubrick film “a clockwork orange”, a major influence and source of inspiration for the group this time around.

after reissuing stanislav tolkachevs masterpiece blue mood, the intergalactic research institute for sound comes back with two fresh pieces from georgian artists zesknel and irakli. following a strong start with de sounds from georgia, this new record explores a more abstract electronic music. zesknel, who is a resident of the renowned bassiani club, collaborates here with irakli on two dreamy and airy soundscapes which aspire to depict and recreate the atmosphere of the georgian capital. to do so, they asked for the help of rezo glonti who proceeded to make field-recordings in tbilisi. this work served as a base in order to create something unique and true to the city. the project is part of a sound installation which aims to blend architecture with sound. the idea of the two artists was to conceive a space where they could translate the spirit of tbilisi. inside that space will be found works exhibited by other georgian artists. and this is all part of the exhibition >lara protects me. eine georgische erzählung< at the museum angewante kunst frankfurt

mika visited the moog sound-lab in april 2015. he made one his last known solo studio recordings in the form of two vinyl sized side long pieces. entitled “lydspor” - danish for ‘soundtrack’. mika worked almost exclusively with the lab’s moog modular system 55.
this uk sound -lab instrument is the sole protoype model (containing several golden filters) of moog’s recent sold out reverse-engineered edition (55 units only) recreating the 1970’s classic.
on completion of his sessions mika announced ‘i could work with this machine for the rest of my life….i would need nothing else”.
a second moog session was planned but tragically mika died in an accident in april 2017, shortly after he had approved the vinyl mastering.

in the senses is a soundtrack concept album from fernando pulichino based around the premise of music for film. melody, ambience and mood are central to these pieces influenced by the likes of angelo badalamenti, john carpenter and johnny jewel. the result is timeless electronic music infused with bittersweet synth chords & melodies, beat less atmospherics, bubbling electronics and synthesizer minimalism.

new yorker electronic producer dj spider is back on itay’s out-er with a muggy, abstract techno release “human erosion field ep”, similarly to its debut “v ep”, released in september 2017 and produced in featuring with his longtime friend phil moffa.
italian label out-er presents its twenty-sixth release continuing to explore the diverse musical path between house, techno and experimental electronic - which appears in most cases on out-er’s sub-label pregnant void. “human erosion field ep” otherworldly showcases both a radiant take on electronic as well as gloomy and wild-eyed pieces, an aesthetic approach for which dj spider has been most known in the scene. overlooking to the style of the tracks, the release does contain a sinister mood and a dense, solid sense of groove overall, a typical recurring feature of the producer’s previous outputs.

mark archer aka dj nex returns to music mondays for a limited edition, bespoke, shrink wrapped, collector’s item, triple pack vinyl album of his legendry dj nex ep’s.
originally released in 1992 and 1993 the nex ep and poundstretcher ep have become incredibly sought after on vinyl. however, the poundstretcher ep was always cut too low with 4 tracks aside. we are now taking both ep’s and remastering them to 3 loud pieces of vinyl.
the sleeve will be a specially designed piece of art just for this project, while the label on the 3 records will represent the original releases, keeping that authentic dj nex vibe!

with the summer season well and truly in full step, mosaic returns with two finely tuned cuts of classic dubbed-out minimalism. a side in the night is a typically understated affair from label boss steve o sullivan under his wise caucasian alias. propelled by a bass-heavy tone and lit by layers of percussion that build on each other you ll find yourself getting lost in the washes of sparse vocals, rhythmic stabs and splashes of delay that reach out over the dance floor. far from providing instant gratification, this requires timely and repeated play to uncover the layers of subtle finesse and craftsmanship: perfect for keeping those feet moving at any hour of the night, or day for that matter. on the b side, steve teams up once again with fellow londoner, frazer campbell on rise which goes straight for the full smile effect as the duo conjure up one of those rare pieces of magic. set to a melee of skippy percussion, high-pitched toms and warmly toned melody, the prophetic voice of maya angelou and her timeless poem still i rise resonates supreme, bringing a touch of thoughtful intelligence thats all too often forgotten. as the track hits it peak, you cant help but feel the deep elation a groove like this brings in the darkest of hours.

“phase” sees a debut outing on vinyl from err rec label head gilles mate’s dialectric project.
impressed by the wealth of wonderfully varied analogue electronic music being released by this small, fiercely independent french label, it was surely a matter of time before py & errs’ likeminded paths crossed- and following a “cold wave” styled small run cassette release, gilles releases a full length on py for august.
“phase” is a timeless, minimal electronic record, heavy on hypnotic, emotional tonal arpeggios and sequences. dreamily crafted introspective pieces, and short “broadcastian” interludes, using a semi-modular system. comprising of various analogue oscillators, effects and sequencers (pittsburgh modular, moog, arturia, yamaha, korg to name a few…).

the second part of vuosi. shuffless gives us again two timeless pieces of their highly appreciated diversity. another trip into the deeper cosmos of northern electronic.

vast, expansive and introspective works utilising place-specific found sound on this second cremation lily lp for alter. contemplating mortality, illness and the perennial bleakness of british winter in a seaside town we find zen zsigo experimenting with piano, violin, synthesiser and walkman tape players. layering field recordings of the hastings shoreline atop druggy, stretched out 303 basslines and snippets of spoken word there seems to be an overarching thematic of memory and reflection at play. from vignettes of crumbling glass and bittersweet drones through to sprawling, semi-rhythmical pieces (‘as a sea creature...’) it seems as if zsigo is trawling the coast for fragments of its former glory. the end result of his study manages to echo the work of yoran, leyland kirby and even jacob kirkegaard yet the rare moments where he lays bare his own vocal narrative seemingly transforms in england now, underwater into sonic diary territory. mixing salt-water soaked cassette loops with haunting, minimalist piano motifs and warped recordings of crashing waves and bird noise an intense atmosphere of ballards drowned world is evoked through sound.

crafting his own sound through years of intense musical exploration, the established romanian artist delivers two otherworldly pieces, set as a tribute to his great inspiration and all time classics, swayzak. “love for my teachers” is half naked dog’s second release, featuring vlad dinu and swayzak as the remixer.

building on the mission statement that was ferdinger’s debut album “gelände”, comes “abbild”, a 4 track ep and the second release on his life in patterns label. the tempos are tweaked up and the sounds are honed and angled for maximum effect. “gegendämmerung” is straightforward but manages a lyrical tilt, while “spiegelreflex” oscillates between moments of dry precision and epic dreaminess. with “abglanz” the newly paris based producer brings things back to the geological strata that characterized “gelände” - but now with a rawer edge and more reflective surface. glos’ remix of “gegendämmerung” provides ambient and analogue textures, finishing the ep on a more introverted and melancholic note whilst maintaining the mechanistic drive of the other pieces.

rico puestel is a phenomenon and currently one of the best artists around when it comes to solid, discerning techno. thats techno that takes no detours, doesnt hide behind vocal samples or need unnecessary, pseudo-intelligent tinkering to get the listeners attention. puestels two current cocoon contributions equity and immunised are strongly reminiscent of caravel, which he also released on cocoon recordings almost exactly a year ago. the mini breaks and prolonged dramatic pauses are all pieces in the puzzle of puestels arrangement and together with the hypnotic beats and constantly radiating synths and effects, they make up his own interpretation of techno sound. it buzzes, it shines and with the right pa its exactly the type of vibe that help us forget the daily grind of dance music madness! that ubiquitous let the bass kick sample hasnt felt so at home for a long time!

setaoc mass fourth record for figure displays a level of maturity an artist this young rarely inhabits. two tracks feature his ability to craft finely layered idm, showing another perspective of the ideas behind the cavernous techno taking up the rest of this ep. nestled between the electronica-pieces is torque, heavy yet undeniably beautiful with its big breaks towards ascension, moving effortlessly despite its weight. things turn serious on the flip side, bursting with bleeps and bulging beats. b1 is a slowly swelling beast with many heads, twisting and turning ceaselessly along its 6-minute runtime, never once letting the tension decline. spiraling inwards for a full-on mind trip, search lights is that key track to drop in the murkiest, darkest hour of the night, one that cuts through relentlessly and unites whatever is left of the dancefloor for one last frenzied commotion.

“ample profanity” is composer laurie tompkins and cellist oliver coates collaborative debut: coagulated gristle surfacing from a beal, brooklyn-brown, ray v, bangs, gan, rugs and works acid bath. the ep collects 5 pieces composed by laurie and then co-edited and performed with olly. the former plays keys, tape player, and samples, the latter cello with effects. both sing. here is grazed, contorted classicism, here post-binge hallucinations, here gunky funk. the vinyl release includesd a download code.

turmalinturm remixes is a scrupulous compilation of tracks inspired by the second fogh depot album released in october 2016 via denovali records. the idea was to compile pieces both from artists of the denovali roster and of the booming russian electronic scene.

nils oliver frahm + peter ray broderick = oliveray. being musical companions and label buddies for many years, it was just a matter of time until peter broderick and nils frahm would start their first standalone project together. oliveray was born during a time when both artists were living in berlin and frahm supporting broderick on tour. their debut release wonders — a nice little collection of eight musical pieces — was released on erased tapes in 2011. the vinyl release includes a download code.

for our next excursion, we’re off to the library. in search of library records that is - you know the type, the crazy rare records used for soundtracks and such and such. we have a sick selection of synthed-up beats and pieces chopped together by one earl jeffers, making the most out of his international library digging card* (*not a real thing).
for those that don’t know, cardiff’s earl jeffers is one half of darkhouse family, regular family at our sister label, first word, on which they released their debut album “the offering” late last year. earl is a prolific producer in his own right, also releasing over the years under the aliases chesus and metabeats on labels like mcde, fat city and local talk, collaborating with artists like byron the aquarius, action bronson and kamaal williams / henry wu, turning his hand ably to house, hip hop, jungle, jazz and more. all this in addition to running his own label, mélange records.
a dedicated digger and record collector first and foremost, earl has provided us with a quadruple set of heavyweight stuttery sci-fi boom bap. in earl’s words: “this record was mostly inspired by my penchant for the more electronic / synthesized jams, mostly replayed from the original compositions then thrust in to 2028 and beyond….”

rod modell returns as deepchord for his first solo release on astral industries since inaugurating the label with his sought-after ‘lanterns’ ep. consisting of two stunning long-form pieces split on one side each, immersions¿ captures the emotive, halcyon sound that rod has long become synonymous with. opening with glistening ambient textures, ‘immersion i’ grows into an 18-minute piece of deep rolling dub techno. on the other side ‘immersion ii’ paints pristine soundscapes of soft, lapping waves, underpinned by submerged pulsations that rise to the surface to continue its deep space explorations. two highly refined and inspiring tracks that sit on the apogee of this sound.

after the release on french label basse resolution and after a couple of years since his last ep on bosconi, having released with the -under the line- track one of the highlights of our latest 10 years compilation and as bss together with his mates fabio della torre and mass prod, rufus is back on bosconi with a new four tracker record which goes on a new direction compared to the past music he did. -ritual chants- was mainly recorded in the abandoned industrial area of milan called bovisa and probably for this reason the release sounds all around a bit sci fi, cinematic and especially gothic. all begins with the raw techno jam of -fast rituals- where structured mellow and dreamy synth lines combine with the dusty, aggressive and driving rhythmical transportation of its drum section. fast rituals is one of those electronic pieces which tells you a story from the beginning till the end, so please pay attention to it. -sapere sparare- looks calmer but actually has the more mental and psychotic feeling of the whole record, driven by an intoxicating and fat bass line, rough jazzy beats and a lot of twisted out fm synths goodness whose times are punctuated twice by the warning female vocal theme of the track. -last shot #5- instead is a jacked out, hypnotic and darker broken house track dense of pumping low ends and subtle but glorious synth riffs properly made for the late hours and totally in the vein of a baby ford - minimal man production.-tenebre- closes up the ep with its horror movie atmosphere, drilling drones here and there, big bouncy bass lines, reverberated snares, drama strings and a dominant sinister melody which slightly reminds of some old dbx track.

this is a debut release on vinyl for spanish based jordi navarra whose musical oeuvre stretches between “surf, hippie / space rock and crude electronic music” often different yet coated in tons of reverb and echo for “it’s final catalepsy”!
“micromundos,” needless to say for py devotees, concentrates on his cruder electronic soundscapes, incredible often ambient, drone themed pieces that on one hand dip their toes into the revered works of hans-joachim roedelius and dieter moebius, and the sky back catalogue whilst equally conjuring up a collision of spacemen 3 psych meets wire, early cabs or magazine darker more atmospheric, post punk industrial / experimental workouts.

a heart from your shadow is the debut collaborative lp from michael beharie (new york) and teddy rankin-parker (chicago). since graduating together from oberlin college, beharie and rankin-parker each veered into markedly different avenues. beharie joined up with the ever-confounding new york ensemble zs (northern spy, the social registry). rankin-parker became an on-demand cellist for his prowess in the work of improvisation and avant-garde music, lending his talents to a wide array of collaborators such as primus, iron & wine, steve reich, and pauline oliveros. rather than jump into stream-of-concious improvisation, beharie and rankin-parker chose to focus the albums themes via intricately composed pieces. a heart from your shadow could be described as protest music, brimming with intense energy, harrowing anxiety, and steadfast optimism. produced by michael beharie, mixed carefully by jim o rourke, mastered by james plotkin and cut to lp at d&m berlin. black virgin vinyl housed in poly-lined inner sleeve in reverse board-printed double-width spine jacket with spot uv finishing. first pressing of 300 copies.

“he bleeds stories ep” is the first vinyl release on vraaa records, a techno label with the aim of queering-up the genre. both original tracks contains elements from projekt gestalten’s past original productions clashing with new sounds and being incorporated into a whole new context, like pieces of different stories scattered throughout the music and reconfigured into a brand new tale. each track was remixed by projects with contrasting gender identities: the heavyweight techno duo i/y, representing the masculine side and the fabulous german selector anja zaube, giving a feminine perspective. pressing on pink & black mixed vinyl.

psychedlic electronica on this new fututibile release (sublabel from periodica). icio omeghas psyco cruise is a collection of songs and private recordings made between 1984 and 1991 in his studio on the island of stromboli. icio omegha, formerly known as maurizio aghemo, is a guitarist, a sitarist and keyboard player who was a member of a world music band active in the late 70s (uco, universal condition orchestra). maurizio today is a record collector and painter who runs his art gallery in stromboli where he exhibits his works. currently engaged in the assembly of a modular system, he continues to produce experimental music on the island. over the years, he has explored various musical genres, from ethnic music with an indian flavor, up to the typical electronic digressions of the mid 80s. the only available source of these recordings are original cassette tapes from which futuribile made this selection. a small selection with pieces that best describe his artistic career. the audio was cleaned, re-mastered and edited to make the best possible presentation of these unique recordings of icio omegha who is finaly able to share them with the public. recommended!!!

nils frahm, born in 1982, had an early introduction to music. during his childhood he was taught to play piano by nahum brodski – a student of the last scholar of tschaikowski. it was through this that nils began to immerse himself in the styles of the classical pianists before him as well as contemporary composers. today nils frahm works as an accomplished composer and producer in berlin. in early 2008 he founded durton studio, where he has worked with peter broderick and dustin o’halloran amongst other fellow musicians.
the three instrumentals, which make up his debut release wintermusik are piano led pieces, coloured with occasional celeste and reed organ parts. the record’s equal measures of sorrowful refrains and uplifting passages, combined with a real intimacy that makes for an album you’ll want to return to again and again. the songs were originally intended as a christmas present for friends and family, hence its winter release on erased tapes. the vinyl release includes a download code.
